A single series begins with an immutable product, not the same background.
Cards look connected when the product retains the shape, scale, color and character of light. The same beige background does not save a series in which the packaging changes height, the lid becomes wider, and the camera looks at a new angle each time.
Fix five invariants before the first generation
Height, width, cover, edges and proportions.
The share of products in the frame and free field around.
Height, inclination, focal sensation and horizon.
The direction of the key light and the nature of shadow.
Body, label and neutral point of comparison.
The invariants are a series contract. Props, background material and accent color can change if they don't affect the product itself.
Select one frame against which the rest are measured.
The wizard should show the product without overlaps, strong perspective and color reflexes; it is better to start with a neutral catalog photograph rather than with the most spectacular lifestyle frame.
Don't use the last generated variant as your next reference, and each small deviation then becomes a new benchmark and accumulates along the chain.
Change one coordinate of the series at a time.
The series is easier to assemble as a table. The line is responsible for the role of the frame - catalog, detail, use, seasonal story; the column is in charge of a visual variable - background, props or color accent. If you change the angle, light, scale and environment at the same time, it will be impossible to determine the source of drift.
Work with short independent branches
- 1Clear the master.
Check the geometry and exact color before adding decorations.
- 2Create one scene.
Secure the merchandise, camera and direction of light.
- 3Compare it to the master.
Do not continue the branch if the packaging has changed.
- 4Start the next shot again from the master.
A single error does not infect the entire series.
Example of instructionsPlace this product on a bright stone table. Keep the exact shape of the case, lid, proportions, coral color and scale. The camera is strictly on top, soft light on the left, short natural shadow to the right. Don't add labeling.
Compare the series with a tape, not one frame.
Put the images side by side in the order that a customer will see them: The jump in scale, camera height or hue is more noticeable in tape than when you open files sequentially.
- Silhouette. The contour of the product coincides with the master.
- Pivot points. The cover, seams, faces and holes are in place.
- Square. The product occupies an agreed share of the frame.
- Shadow. The direction of the light does not change by accident.
- Color. The background affects the atmosphere, but does not repaint the product.
Save the master and finished roles separately
Do not replace the source file with an optimized card. Keep a neutral wizard, work scenes and final exports separately: this allows you to reassemble the site or size without re-creating the product.
A series is a set of managed differences.
One master, five invariants and independent branches give variety without the feeling that each card shows a new product.
