The model creates an image of letters, but does not make up the text as an editor.
For a generator, an inscription is part of a picture on par with a fabric, a glare or a brick wall. It can plausibly depict the nature of the typeface, but it doesn't have to retain every letter. The longer the phrase, the smaller the pin and the more complex the surface, there's more room for error.
Why letters look almost right but don't read
The modern model knows what a poster, packaging or neon sign looks like visually. It reproduces composition, rhythm of lines and characteristic strokes. However, the exact sequence of characters is a separate limitation. Similar signs compete with each other, and Cyrillic is less common in educational images than Latin and more dependent on the particular typeface.
There's also a geometric part. It has to follow the perspective of the sign, the folds of a T-shirt, bending the mug and lighting the scene. The model solves both language and visual problems at the same time. A mistake in one letter can be imperceptible to the overall plausibility of an image, although it makes the layout unsuitable for a person.
“Working with text” actually means four different tasks.
The source already has a logo or an inscription on it, and the main danger is that the model will redraw it along with the background.
You need to write a new short phrase in a free place with a given perspective and light.
Old letters must be removed, the surface restored and a new string of the same scale placed.
After the text there should be no shadows and contours, and the background has to be completed plausibly.
If the prompt doesn't name an operation, the model can solve a neighboring problem. For example, instead of saving the logo, it will create a similar sign, and rather than removing the watermark, change the entire texture, so the first word of a useful instruction is the word "save," "add,""replace" or "delete."
Where is it easier to generate text, and where is the result better collected in two stages
| Surface. | Complexity. | Why? | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flat poster, 1-3 words | below | Large letters, flat plane. | You can try the generation. |
| Direct signage. | moderate | Perspective, light and material | Check every letter. |
| t-shirt or fabric | high-rise | Folds deform symbols | Empty print + separate overlay |
| A jar, a mug, packaging. | high-rise | Bending, glare, small pin | Use a mockup or editor |
| Document or interface | critical | Lots of fine exact text | Do not generate content |
This scale doesn't say that a difficult task is impossible. It helps you choose the price of an error; for a humorous illustration, you can take a slight distortion. For a brand, a price, an address or a person's name, even one wrong letter means a rework.
What showed 25 text cases in the working sample
We looked separately at anonymized generations, where automatic verification detected a problem with the text, and categories could overlap: in one result, there were redundant characters and mismatch with a given phrase.
Re-generation was triggered 24 out of 25 times, but the final test passed 15. It's a useful boundary of expectations: retry fixes random failure but doesn't always help if the task itself is overloaded with precise text, complex geometry and multiple edits at once.
Query formula for short inscription
Make a stylish coffee shop sign in Russian.
"Replace the text on the central sign with the exact words 'Coffee and Bread,' one line, large simple Cyrillic letters. Don't add any other words. Save the facade, people and lighting."
Change the background, clothes, mood and write a long advertising text.
First create the right scene with an empty area under the title, then add the exact inscription in a separate step.
"Remove the sign from your T-shirt."
"Fullly remove the white inscription from your chest. Restore the monochromatic black cloth with folds, no trace of letters. Face, posture and background don't change."
Reliable process: first image, then accuracy
- Decide whether the inscription should be infallible.Name, price, address, brand and call to action almost always require separate verification.
- Leave one text operation in the AI.Do not mix the replacement with a new background, face and clothing in one prompt.
- Shorten the sentence. One or three large lines are more reliable than a paragraph of small text.
- Create a free area. For advertising, ask for a clean poster, screen or place in the composition, and overlay the text after.
- Check not “by eye”, but by symbol.Especially pairs I/Y, E/E, B/K and similar Latin characters.
- Save two files.A clean AI background will come in handy for other titles, languages and formats without new generation.
AI is good at creating a scene for text, but accuracy is better considered as a separate layer.
For a short large inscription on a simple surface, generation is worth trying directly. For commercial layouts, predictability is more important: first get the right photo and free composition, then superimpose the verified text, thus preserving the visual effect of AI and eliminating the risk of accidental error in the most prominent place.
